Atom apple tree seeds can be bought from the general store while the player's ship is docked at Grey Planet. This seed must be planted in a tree planter and must be watered every day. Each tree seedling takes twenty days to grow into a mature tree, after which it can produce atom apples, or radiated atom apples, depending on if this tree was planted on the outer hull or not. Once mature, this tree can be harvested every twelve days.
Like all crops, fruit trees must be watered every day to continue to grow. The player is able to use a level one garden bot in the square configuration to water four trees at once, as only one square needs to touch the tree planter in order to water it.
