Hermy wants to join the player's crew and collaborate with the captain on their mission as a traveling museum curator. See Edward about repairing the vehicle docking stations, and return to Hermy when the space is available.
Crew missions are a series of missions the player can finish at their leisure. These quests often correlate to a primary mission, but do not need to complete them to progress with the main story line. These quests generally have a few tasks the player must complete before getting their reward. Most crew missions the player can pick up by talking with the associated character, after any prerequisites have been achieved. The NPC will appear with a 
marker above their head, letting the player know they have a mission to give out.

Walkthrough
The player needs to return to their ship after obtaining the mission from Hermy. They will need to purchase an upgrade from the Machine Shop if they haven't already.
The vehicle docking station upgrade must be completed. The cost and materials to repair this area are 
, 
, 
, and 
. Once gathered, the player must bring them to the Machine shop, to begin this repair. This repair takes 3 days to complete.
Once the upgrade has been completed, the player must travel back to Hermy's dig site and speak with Hermy to have him join the crew. Hermy will join the crew right away, and the player will then have access to the museum.
